Privacy Policy — Many Margins
Last updated: 16 September 2026
Effective date: 16 September 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how the Many Margins app ("Many Margins", the "App", "we", "us", "our") handles information when you use it.
The App is provided by WeAnd Studios Ltd (trading as "weand"), 86-90 Paul Street, EC2A 4NE London, United Kingdom. If you have any questions about this policy, contact us at contact@weand.co.uk.
We are the "data controller" for the limited personal data described below for the purposes of UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).
1. Summary
Many Margins is designed to work primarily on your device. We do not run accounts, we do not require you to sign in, and we do not sell your personal data. Where the App processes information, it is generally to make the App function (for example, remembering your highlights and reading position).
2. Information we process
2.1 Information stored on your device
The following is stored locally on your device and, unless you have enabled Apple's iCloud/device backup, does not leave it:
- Your highlights, notes, and annotations.
- Your reading progress and position, bookmarks, and library preferences.
- App settings and preferences (for example, onboarding choices and interests).
- Support/feedback reports you draft in the App (these are stored locally until you choose to send them).
We do not have access to this on-device content unless you choose to send it to us (for example, by attaching it to a support email).
2.2 Information you send us directly
If you contact us — for example using the Contact support option, which opens your email app — we will receive the information you choose to include, such as your email address and the contents of your message. We use this only to respond to and resolve your query.
2.3 Purchases
If the App offers purchases or subscriptions, these are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store your payment card details. Apple provides us with limited, aggregated transaction information (for example, that a purchase occurred). Your use of the App Store is governed by [Apple's Privacy Policy](https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/).
2.4 Analytics and diagnostics
The App does not use third-party analytics or crash-reporting services.
2.5 Information we do not collect
We do not require an account and do not collect your name, contact list, precise location, or advertising identifiers. We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell your personal data.
3. Legal bases for processing (UK GDPR)
Where we process personal data, we rely on the following legal bases:
- Performance of a contract / provision of the service — to deliver the App's core features.
- Legitimate interests — to keep the App secure, fix bugs, and respond to your support requests, balanced against your rights.
- Consent — where required, for example for optional analytics (you may withdraw consent at any time).
4. How we share information
We do not sell your personal data. We share information only:
- With service providers who process data on our behalf, under contracts requiring them to protect it;
- With Apple, in connection with App Store distribution and purchases;
- Where required by law, or to protect our rights, users, or the public.
Any international transfers of personal data are protected by appropriate safeguards (such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or an adequacy decision).
5. Data retention
On-device data remains until you delete it or delete the App. Support correspondence is kept for as long as needed to handle your query and for a reasonable period of one year.
6. Your rights
Subject to UK data protection law, you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal data, and to data portability. Because most data stays on your device, you can exercise many of these rights directly by editing or deleting content in the App, or by deleting the App.
To exercise rights over any data we hold, contact contact@weand.co.uk. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at [ico.org.uk](https://ico.org.uk).
7. Children
The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information. However, no method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date above and, where changes are material, provide a more prominent notice within the App.
