Terms & Conditions — Many Margins

Last updated: 16 September 2026

Effective date: 16 September 2026

These Terms & Conditions ("**Terms**") are a legal agreement between you and WeAnd Studios Ltd (trading as "WeAnd"), 86-90 Paul Street, EC2A 4NE London, United Kingdom ("**we**", "**us**", "**our**"), governing your use of the Many Margins application and any related content and services (together, the "**App**").

By downloading, accessing, or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

1. What Many Margins is

Many Margins is a reading and study-aid application that presents works of literature alongside supporting material such as glosses, plain-language explanations, plot summaries, commentary, historical context, and definitions (together, the "Commentary"). The Commentary is intended to support your own reading and thinking about a text.

2. Educational aid only — important limitations

2.1 Not a substitute for a teacher or professional instruction. The App is a supplementary study aid. It is **not** a replacement for a qualified teacher, tutor, lecturer, examiner, or any form of formal education, professional advice, or personalised instruction. It should not be relied upon as your sole source of understanding.

2.2 The Commentary may be incomplete, simplified, or wrong. Some or all of the Commentary may be generated or assisted by automated systems, including artificial intelligence. Automated and human-authored Commentary alike **can contain errors, omissions, or outdated information**, and can present a matter with more confidence than is warranted.

2.3 The Commentary may misrepresent the underlying text. Glosses, summaries, paraphrases, and interpretations are **one possible reading** and may **oversimplify, distort, or misstate** the meaning, tone, context, or intent of the original work. Scholars reasonably disagree about the meaning of literary texts. Do not treat any interpretation in the App as authoritative or definitive.

2.4 Use with supervision. Where the App is used by students, or by anyone for coursework, examinations, assessment, or any decision of consequence, it should be used **under the supervision or guidance of a qualified teacher or responsible adult** and checked against authoritative primary sources and course materials. Do not rely on the App alone for academic work.

2.5 Always verify. You are responsible for independently verifying any information in the App before relying on it. We strongly encourage you to read the original text and consult primary and scholarly sources.

2.6 No warranty of accuracy. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we make **no representation or warranty** that the Commentary or any content in the App is accurate, complete, current, reliable, or fit for any particular purpose, including academic, educational, or examination purposes.

3. Licence to use the App

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the App for your own personal, non-commercial use. This licence is also subject to the [Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions](https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/) ("Apple's Terms"), and where those terms conflict with these Terms in relation to your download from the App Store, Apple's Terms prevail to that extent.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

- copy, redistribute, sell, sublicense, or make the App or its content available to others except as the App expressly allows;

- reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code or bundled content, except to the extent this restriction is prohibited by law;

- use the App unlawfully, or to infringe the rights of others;

- remove or obscure any copyright, attribution, or proprietary notices;

- use automated means to scrape or bulk-extract content from the App.

5. Intellectual property and third-party content

5.1 Our content. The App, its design, and our original Commentary are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws.

5.2 Underlying literary works. Many literary texts presented in the App are in the public domain. Where the App includes third-party content, we do so on the basis that we hold the necessary rights or that the content is used in accordance with its licence.

5.3 Attributions. Where required, source and licence attributions are provided within the App or its documentation.

5.4 **Your feedback.** If you send us feedback, suggestions, or reports, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to use them to improve the App, without obligation to you.

---

6. Purchases and subscriptions

If the App offers paid features, purchases, or subscriptions, they are sold and processed by Apple through the App Store and are subject to Apple's Terms. Payment is charged to your Apple account. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and you can manage or cancel them in your Apple account settings. Refunds are handled by Apple in accordance with Apple's policies.

Where you are a consumer in the UK/EU, statutory cancellation and refund rights may apply; note that these may be limited once digital content has been supplied with your consent.

7. Disclaimers

7.1 The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the maximum extent permitted by law, including implied warranties of satisfactory quality, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement.

7.2 We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that defects will be corrected.

7.3 Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any rights you have as a consumer that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

8. Limitation of liability

8.1 Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law.

8.2 Subject to clause 8.1, and to the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for:

- any loss or damage arising from **reliance on the Commentary or any content in the App**, including academic, examination, or assessment outcomes;

- indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss; or

- loss of data, profits, goodwill, or opportunity.

8.3 Subject to clause 8.1, our total aggregate liability arising out of or in connection with the App and these Terms will not exceed the greater of (a) the total amount you paid for the App in the 12 months before the claim

9. Availability and changes

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the App or any of its features at any time, and may update its content (including the Commentary) without notice. We may update these Terms from time to time; the "Last updated" date will change, and continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

10. Termination

We may suspend or end your access to the App if you breach these Terms. You may stop using the App at any time by deleting it. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 2, 5, 7, 8, and 11) will survive.

11. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms and any dispute arising out of or in connection with them are governed by the laws of **England and Wales**. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, except that if you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the UK, you may also bring proceedings in your local courts, and mandatory consumer-protection laws of your place of residence continue to apply.

12. Apple-specific terms

You acknowledge that these Terms are between you and us, not Apple, and that Apple is not responsible for the App or its content. Apple has no obligation to provide support or maintenance for the App. Apple and its subsidiaries are **third-party beneficiaries** of these Terms and may enforce them against you. In the event of any failure of the App to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price (if any); to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to the App.
